Let the children come to me; do not prevent them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
What is Children’s Liturgy of the Word?
It is the Liturgy of the Word suitably adapted to make it relevant to the lives and experiences of young children. It gives them the opportunity to understand the Gospel message and participate in the Eucharistic celebration at their own level.
Where Does it Take Place?
The children celebrate the Liturgy of the Word in Barbelin Hall.
When does it take place?
The children should be present at the beginning of the Mass until the end of the Introductory Rites, when the priest invites them to leave for their own celebration. They are brought back into the assembly immediately after the Prayers of the Faithful by the leader.
Who Leads the Liturgy of the Word for Children?
Adult leaders lead the children’s liturgy of the Word. Actually, all that is required to lead is a desire to help children take a more active part in the celebration of their faith. Training is available for teenagers and adults. All leaders must submit to a background check and participate in Archdiocesan guidelines for “Protecting God’s Children.”
