Dear OSJ Family,

Christ is Risen!

As we continue in the Easter Season (50 days of rejoicing!), we continue to seek the life-giving graces that our Risen Lord offers. We take hope that through his Resurrection new life abounds all around us.

Back in the Fall I shared with you that our beloved Senior Priest, Father Jerry McAndrews, experienced a serious fall in our rectory. Since that time, he has undergone some surgical procedures and has had the best care imaginable at our Jesuit Health Care Facility in Wernersville, PA.  His spirits are great and his health is coming along.

With that, I write to inform you that Fr. McAndrews has been assigned by our Provincial Superior in Maryland to the Jesuit Community at Wernersville, and will not return to OSJ as we had hoped. At 84 years of age, Father transitions to a new stage in his life. It is customary for us, as vowed religious, to do so in a community setting that can provide him with greater accompaniment and assistance. He will continue to receive top-notch care at the Jesuit Community of St. Isaac Jogues at Wernersville.

For us, this means that we are one less priest and that will affect some of our ministries as we move ahead. Still, we are incredibly grateful to Fr. McAndrews for his dedication to our parish and his great service to the people of God in Philadelphia! He will definitely be missed. I am sure he’d love to hear from some of you.  Here is his address:
