Dear OSJ Family,

This week we offer a warm welcome to all of those newly registered parishioners of OSJ! Today, at the 9:30am Mass, we will bless our newest members and, after Mass, we will celebrate with them at our Sunday coffee hour. We are blessed each week with a growing number of parishioners! Please stop by and greet them.

It is often said that one of the most important parts of the Catholic Church is the parish. For many this is so true, the parish community can have a major impact on the lives of many. It is in the parish setting where we share the Body and Blood of Christ, hear the Word of God proclaimed, seek forgiveness for our sins and failings, promote communal support, offer outreach, and explore the various ways to give life to our holy faith. The parish is a living, growing body of believers because here we encounter the sacred and here God interacts with each and every one of us!

We certainly hope that this will continue to be our common experience of OSJ and that our newest members will find here authentic respect, acceptance and hospitality in a spiritually and emotionally nourishing environment.

As we all learn more about our faith and the role our parish plays in helping us to grow in faith, hope, and love, we wish that all will find an area in which to share time, treasure and talent with our parish family and the larger community. There are so many needs and cares for which we ought to attend as a Christian family. Like any family, we function most efficiently when all of our members involve themselves in the life of our community of faith.

We welcome all, especially our newest registered members, to our parish family and we offer thanks to God that all of us are gathered together here in this Christian community of faith and service.

Grace and Peace,

Fr Phil Florio, S.J.
