Dear OSJ Family,
At this time I am honored to welcome to our parish, on your behalf, two additional persons who join our pastoral staff. Both are on a part-time basis and bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to OSJ.
We are happy to welcome to the newly created position of Liturgy Coordinator, Sister Asunta Thanh, acj who is a Handmaid of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a congregation of Sisters founded by Saint Raphaela Mary in 1886 in Spain. They are a member of the larger Ignatian family as, like the Jesuits, they embrace the spirituality of Saint Ignatius Loyola. Sister Asunta, a native of Vietnam, entered the convent in England where she also taught, and served her religious community as an administrator. She has been a Handmaid for 46 years and has also served as an educator, administrator and spiritual director in schools, parishes and retreat houses in various places in the US. Sister will work with our liturgical ministers and will also volunteer as a teacher with our PREP program.
OSJ is also thrilled to welcome our newest Senior Priest, Father Mike Siconolfi, S.J. who has been a Jesuit for 56 years now! Father joins us most recently from having served for 7 years as a distinguished military chaplain with the US Marines at Quantico. Fr. Mike has also served in parish ministry, high school administration, university teaching, and retreat ministry in various Jesuit missions. As a Senior Priest, Fr Mike will share with the parish priests in celebrating Masses, hearing confessions, visiting the sick at Pennsylvania Hospital, and presiding over weddings and baptisms at the parish.
We are blessed to have both of these wonderful religious join our parish community and I ask you to join me in welcoming them with open arms!
