Music at OSJ
Music at Old St. Joseph’s Church spans a near century-long tradition of outstanding liturgical music and concerts, offering to our parish and city an abundance of sacred choral literature and organ repertoire, from the great Catholic heritage of Gregorian chant, through the renaissance, baroque, and 20th century repertoire. We invite you to join us here in our proclamation of joy and hope!

Choirs
The Schola Cantorum provides a varied repertoire of outstanding classical sacred choral music for the 11:30 AM Mass each Sunday (mid September through early June) and for the various holy days throughout the liturgical year such as Christmas and Easter, as well as for this season’s Messiah concert in December. The Schola Cantorum meets for rehearsals each Thursday evening from 7:00 – 8:45 P.M. and on Sunday mornings at 11:00 A.M. for rehearsal before the 11:30 AM Choral Mass.
Our Children’s Choir program offers children (grades K-8) opportunities to sing during the Sunday 9:30 AM Family Mass while experiencing the wonders of the Liturgical Year. In addition to providing a fine introduction to music, the children’s choir also enjoys the opportunity to grow in their faith through sacred song. The choir presents music during Advent, on Christmas Eve, and on Easter Sunday. The Children’s Choir rehearses each Sunday in the church from late October through early May, following our 9:30 AM Mass.
If you would like to know more about our choirs I welcome the opportunity to speak with you following the weekend Masses, or you may wish to contact me at the church music office: music@oldstjoseph.org.
